Going on holiday with the kids is so much fun, but it can be hard work, right? So why not take the grandparents on your ski holiday, and create some life-long memories together, whilst also getting the chance to spend some quality time with your other half. Plus, grandparents can spoil the kids, which both parties will love! Here are some great reasons why you should go on a multigenerational holiday.
If you have children, then you know that it can be hard to get some time to yourselves. With the grandparents there, they can take the kids out for the day on the slopes, or for a fun evening activity. This means you can spend some quality time together, whether that’s a day skiing together, a romantic walk in the snow, or dinner in a lovely alpine restaurant. You can do this knowing that your little ones are in safe hands, so you can relax and unwind too.
Another perk of going on holiday with the grandparents, is that the cost of the chalet (especially a catered one!) can be split between all of you, as well as the cost of meals and food shopping. If you’re in a self-catered chalet, you can also make use of the many different chefs in the family, and split the cooking. This can take the edge off the bill of your holiday, and make it even more enjoyable.
As you’re on holiday with the grandparents, you’ll also be able to cut back on childcare costs. Whether it’s dropping them off at ski school or taking them up the mountain to meet for lunch on a sunny terrace, a little bit of help goes a long way.
At ChaletFinder there are loads of child-friendly chalets to choose from, complete with games rooms and cinema rooms as well!
There are so many fun activities to do in the mountains, and chances are that you haven’t done a lot of them with both the kids and grandparents. We all know that as soon as you’re on holiday, the kids start bouncing off the walls and need entertaining. Plus, the grandparents probably want to try new activities too. Think endless skiing and snowboarding fun – and for those non-skiers in the family, there’s sledging, snow-shoeing, swimming, ice-skating… the list goes on.
Finally, you’re never too old, or young, to enjoy the things you love. These days, it’s a fact that people prefer to spend their money on experiences rather than material things. Trust us, it’s something that the kids won’t be able to stop talking about! It’s a brilliant opportunity for the children to spend time with you and the grandparents, creating memories that will last a lifetime. Take all the photos, and pop them in a family album to remember your time together on your snowy getaway.
If you have a dog, then it’s easy to take them as well! Just check out our blog about why you should go on holiday with your furry friend.
