If you’re going on a ski holiday in the French Alps, then you need to know about all the best ski cuisine there is to eat. The French Alps are well known for its melt in the mouth food and hearty style of cooking. Not to mention their love for cheese! You cannot leave France without trying at least one of these dishes.

Starting off with a classic we have Fondue 

This dish is the most well-known ski food out there, mainly for the reason that it’s so delicious! If you’re a fan of cheese then you’ll love fondue, dipping pieces of crusty bread into hot melted cheese, doesn’t get much better than that! Since this dish is so popular, you will be able to find it in almost every restaurant in the French Alps.  

 

Comforting French Onion Soup  

The ultimate comfort food you need after a cold day on the slopes. It’s still very filling and it’s just what you need to fuel your body to continue the action on the slopes. This tastefully rich soup is slow cooked so that the onions are nicely caramelised. All finished off with fresh garlic and melted gruyere cheese. Always served with a French roll.

A mountain favourite- La Pierre Chaude 

La Pierre Chaude basically translates to ‘the hot stone’ which is a method of cooking. The Chef will heat hot stones over an open fire where you can cook the meat on to your desired taste. This style of cooking is a great way to cook meats as it keeps it tender and juicy. It’s also a fun dining experience!

You can’t have Beef Bourguignon without a glass of red wine 

This French beef stew is braised in red wine and beef stock, filled with plenty of hearty vegetables and is usually served with mash potatoes, green beans or even bread to scoop all the goodness up with. Either way, this dish pairs perfectly with a glass of Pinot Noir. 

 

Room for dessert? Try this sweet ski treat 

Gateu de Savoie is a light and airy cake that’s made using very simple ingredients. The simplicity of this sponge like cake is what makes it so special, served with a dollop of jam and a dash of icing sugar. The perfect pudding to finish with after eating lots of tasty stodgy food!
