We love skiing and snowboarding, but there are loads of other activities you can do in the summer months when you’re staying in a chalet. As we come towards the summer months, this is the best time to book your chalet. Here are some of the benefits to holidaying in a chalet in summer.
There are so many activities to enjoy when you’re in the mountains in summer!
In the summer, rather than ski down the mountains, why not cycle down them? You can enjoy both mountain biking and road cycling. Either hire bikes when you’re on holiday, or if you’re driving then bring the bikes with you. Make it your own Tour de France!
You can also enjoy the hot weather. In the Alps, temperatures can reach highs of 35°C which means you don’t need to jet off to somewhere more tropical for that Vitamin D. Enjoy your breakfast, glasses of wine, and dinner on the chalet terraces. Don’t forget your sun cream!
Swimming is also great fun for all the family. You can swim in designated lakes, or outdoor swimming pools, and some resorts even have extra fun pools with some slides. For example, visit the pool in Morzine where there are indoor and outdoor pools, plus a slide. Alternatively, you could just enjoy a relaxing sunbathe!
Mountain hiking and running are also fabulous in the summer when you hire a chalet. Not only will you get some great exercise, but you can also appreciate wonderful views, and soften any aching limbs in the hot tub afterwards. Explore new trails whilst enjoying the beautiful flora and fauna.
How about extreme sports? If you enjoy paragliding, you can paraglide in the French and Swiss alps from April to November! Soar through the beautiful surroundings, doing something seriously cool and exciting. You could also try some rock-climbing. Chamonix is a world-class area for mountaineering and rock climbing that is dominated by Mont Blanc, at 4,810m high.
There are loads of summer events in resorts. Watch the Tour de France zoom past, join the Spartan race in Morzine, or cheer on the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in Les Gets. There’s also the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland if you’re a music fan.
With all these fabulous activities to do, it also means the kids will be having the time of their lives! Swimming, cycling, wakeboarding, sailing, canyoning, lakeside beaches and more. So many chalets on ChaletFinder also offer great entertainment for kids, like PlayStations, cinema rooms, hot tubs, table-football and ping-pong.
