If you love epic, deep powder runs, Canada is where it’s at.
Being located so close to the fantastic European slopes, we often overlook one of the best terrains in the world.
Heading across the pond to Canada, to ski or snowboard is the dream for many UK based enthusiasts. Yet we so often hear “That’s a bit far to go”, “Doesn’t it get REALLY cold there” and “Can’t you just go to the Alps?”. Ignore it all. You really need to try Canada – at least once. Although go once and you’ll definitely go back! The long-haul flight and jet lag are more than worth it!
So why Canada? The reliable snowfall, Whistler Blackcomb has an average snowfall of 10.6metres a year and the ski season runs until mid-June! World famous deep powder runs, après ski and wide choice of resorts guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
The purpose-built resorts, such as Big White, are great for families and offer the convenience of ski-in/ski-out that are so desirable in the European resorts. Still not had enough slope time by dark, then worry not, there are 38 acres of floodlit slopes as Big White is the biggest night skiing area in Western Canada.
For those more confident, Whistler may be a better destination, its world-class and features on almost every avid skiers bucket list. One of the biggest resorts in North America, together with Blackcomb covers 8,171 acres (33km2), making it comparable to the best resorts in the world.
Whistler has so much to offer, both on and off the slopes. The locals are lovely, polite and friendly. The skiing is like that of Val d’Iser or Verbier. The après rivals that found in the best resorts in Europe. Whistler has 200 restaurants, with plenty of opportunity to party, 5* accommodation and an abundance of outdoor activities even after the lifts close.
